Rare & Genuine, Very Good, South Carolina Model 1842 .54 caliber Dragoon/Cavalry pistol produced by William Glaze of the Palmetto Armory, Columbia, S.C. in 1852/1853.

This Palmetto Pistol is a rare survivor of 1,000 produced for the State of South Carolina. This Palmetto Pistol likely saw service with South Carolina Cavalry during the 1861-1865 War for Southern Independence.

The lock is Very Good, Clean and Bright with exceptionally clear markings. The Palmetto Armory insignia is very well struck. On the inside surface of the lockplate is a Federal punch mark typical of the parts acquired by Asa Waters and sent to William Glaze. The lock works are Very Good, all original and in perfect working order. The stock is original and fully intact. It has been cleaned and sanded and in some places - see photos. The barrel is Very Good and is well marked. It has been cleaned to bright with some traces of Palmetto Armory Brown on the bottom at the breech. There is a condemnation C below the bolster.

In summary this is a Fine & Genuine example of the Model 1842 South Carolina Palmetto Armory Pistol which was made in AnteBellum times and likely served with South Carolina Cavalry operating within the Confederate Armies . This Palmetto Pistol is guaranteed Genuine forever.
