This sword is featured on page 276 of "American Swords & Sword Makers: Volume II" by Richard H. Bezdek. Bezdek dates the sword circa 1805-1810. The American blade is slightly curved and is half-blued with early gilt designs including a sun-in-splendor, floral motifs, and stands of arms on one side. The other side has florals and an early federal eagle with an "E. PLURIBUS UNUM" banner above. The brass stirrup hilt has a forward curved quillon. Early brass birds head pommel with integral backstrap. Leather wrapped grip with strands of brass wire and a large brass ferrule at the base. Complete with its original black leather scabbard with brass throat mount complete with frog stud.

25 inch Blade retains about 60-70% original fire blue finish with some fading and thinning, remainder retains much original polish with some darker areas and a couple nicks to edge and sharpening marks. Hilt retains a mustard patina. Grip wire slightly loose in some areas and leather shows some losses. Scabbard leather is crazed and shows some minor surface losses, drag is absent. A very early and attractive American example.
