A scarce medal for a veteran of the Mexican War engraved on the reverse in script "Charles Bryson 1 Penn Inf’

Bryson was a 23 year old resident in Pittsburgh when he joined the 1st Pennsylvania for service in the Mexican War. In the Civil War he served with the hard fighting 61st PA Infantry through the Antietam campaign.

The front of the medal lists several famous Mexican War battles along with the date "1846" & "MEXICO". The design features a ship, crossed firearms and sword, a cannon with an engineers castle and cacti in a wreath with a ribbon below that reads "PERRY SCOTT TAYLOR". Complete with ribbon & suspension bar. Metal has a pleasing patina.
