Fabulous South Carolina Militia Officer's Sword
Product Code: CCR4340

Very attractive South Carolina Militia Officer's Sword circa 1840-1850 by Horstmann and so marked. This fairly well known pattern features a Palmetto tree over 1776 cast into the guard.

Grips are Mother of pearl, the pommel in the shape of an Indian Princess. It has a straight blue and gold blade that is near mint. During this period it seems to have been common practice manufacture/assemble swords with European (usually Solingen) made blades. This one bears the trademark of King's Head of Solingen maker Gebruder Weyersburg.

Decorated brass scabbard is numbered '423' and this same number is noted on other examples.

Confederate NCO Shoulder Belt Sword Rig
Product Code: CCR4342

Confederate NCO Shoulder Belt Sword Rig with artillery short sword.

This rig is a rare adaptation of a Confederate short artillery sword to an over the shoulder belt rig as worn by NCO's of the period. Shoulder belt rigs are frequently seen for Federal NCO's but are almost non-existant for his CS counterpart.

Leather shoulder sling is tooled with 3 narrow lines on one side and is cut for an oval belt plate of the classic 1808 pattern. Leather has been treated making it perfectly supple.

Confederate artillery short sword is modeled on the Federal pattern of 1832. Blade and hilt both retain most of their original tool marks and surface.

Matching Confederate scabbard sports a 3-piece tip with unusual 3-pin attachment. Note the period sewn repair on the seam close to tip.
