Confederate North Carolina Clip Point Knife
Product Code: CCR1110

Recovered in Alamance county, North Carolina. A fabulous untouched Confederate fighting knife with it's original tin mounted scabbard.

Length overall in the scabbard is 16 1/2", and with knife out of scabbard it measures 15".

The clip corner blade measures 10 1/2" and displays a good amount of wear. Blade has some bright spots from scabbard wear but mostly is a pleasant smooth gray patina with some visible sharpening and tool marks.

The crudely fashioned scabbard is in wonderful attic untouched condition. Just the way you like to find them. The remains of a leather thong used as a belt hanger are threaded through a tiny slot made into the scabbard throat. The blade and scabbard are mated perfectly, just like you expect.

Walnut grip is in excellent shape. No visible damage or repairs. A thin iron washer serves as a pommel cap. It and the iron cross guard is original and untouched.

  Confederate Artillery Officer's Sabre
Product Code: CCR1971

Excellent Confederate artillery officer's sabre by Thomas Griswold of New Orleans.

Blade has the desireable full firm name 'Thomas Griswold & Co' over 'New Orleans' stamped into the ricasso. Blade is free from any major knicks or other damage and exhibits mixed areas of mottled patina and brightness.

Original scabbard is constructed of copper with brass mounts, rings, and drag. It is relatively dent free but has been cleaned at some point long ago.

The original wood, wrap, and wire are still present on the hilt. The hilt on this example is nice and tight.

Overall this is a super maker marked, Confederate sword and will make a great addition to your Confederate collection.

Rare US Navy Silver Grip Sword of Acting Ensign Henry H. Collamore
Product Code: CCR3492

Rare identified US Navy Civil War officers sword of Henry H. Collamore. Agent marked on blade Virgil Price of New York.

Collamore's sword and service history is well documented in 'US Naval Officers Their Swords and Dirks' by Peter Tuite, 2004, Mowbray Publishing.

Collamore was born in Pembroke, Massachusetts on Febuary 3rd, 1841 and was a mariner before the war. He was a mate on January 7th, 1861. During the Civil War he served on Roanoke, Commodore Perry and Maratanz. He was promoted to acting ensign on April 4th, 1864. While on the Maratanz, he participated in the capture of Fort Fisher, the capture of two Confederate gunboats, and finally the capture of Fort Anderson in February 1865. Collamore returned to the sea and sailed until 1878 when an injury forced him ashore. He died in Pembroke on December 9th, 1918 at age 77. His service records indicate he had the tattoo HHC on his right forearm.

The silver grip is 5 1/2 inches long with its non-pattern pommel decorated with a simple floral border. The pommel and guard are very deeply chased relative to the standard 1852 pattern.

The slightly curved is stamped with the number 14 on its top spine. Blade is 28 3/4 inch long, 1 1/8 inches wide and over 3/8 inches thick at the ricasso. The frosted blade is etched over 16 inches.

The blade obverse has a cross hatched long tower surrounded by leaves, anchor with shield in a simple border, frame of 16 stars with inner border containg the owner's name, a stand of arms with seven pikes, the center pike topped by a flag with engraved USN.

The blade reverse has the supplier's name, a spread winged eagle sitting on a wheeled carronade with sunrays above, a fouled anchor, a horizontal USN in a twisted ribbon, a long fouled line within oak leaves and acorns, completed by sunrays.

The leather scabbard has very elaborate engraved mounts.

A spectacular example of a privately purchased naval officer's sword. I believe this sword is a product of Emerson and Silver based on several similarities to other examples bearing their mark.

US Model 1840 Foot Officer's Sword by Widmann
Product Code: CCR4197

US Model 1840 Foot Officer's Sword by F. W. Widmann of Philadelphia. Beleived to be the only type of this pattern that bears his mark.

In this example Widmann is the maker/assembler. The blade bears the king's head trademark of the German firm 'Gebruder Weyersburg' We know with certainty that Widmann performed embellishments on the blade. Along with an American Eagle on each side it also contains his trademark block 'W' and characteristic etched patterns of ivy and grape leaves.

Full length 31 inch blade. Traces of gilt can be seen in the incised patterns on the blade. Originaly a 3-color blade but none of the blue has survived, possibly an indication heavy use.

Hilt is in excellent condition showing no sign of repair or disassembly. Only a tiny bit of play in grip, which has traces of silver finish seen in recessed areas.

Folding counterguard is formed as a hinge, obviating the need for a ball retainer seen on most other examples. Functions perfectly. On the underside of the guard traces of gilt are seen in the recessed areas. Assembly marks of a sideways 'X' along with a 'III' appear in the center as well.

Very attractive South Carolina Militia Officer's Sword circa 1840-1850 by Horstmann and so marked. This fairly well known pattern features a Palmetto tree over 1776 cast into the guard.

Grips are Mother of pearl, the pommel in the shape of an Indian Princess. It has a straight blue and gold blade that is near mint.
