Superb US 6.4-inch Parrott Shell
Very nice 100 pounder Parrott rifle shell fired during the siege of Charleston, S.C. Shell body is nice and clean. Almost all of the original lathe marks are present. Hi-band sabot shows some of the original rifling of the cannon that fired it. The top of the zinc percussion fuze is missing, so the slider and percussion nipple can be seen. A beautiful example.

Civil War Era Gunner's Calipers
Well made precision instrument for measureing shot and shell for smoothbore cannon. It has a baseline for 6, 12, 24 and 32 pdr guns, all standard military smoothbores at the outbreak of hostilities. Some examples have Northern arsenal marks but this one does not leaving the possibility that it is Southern. All brass construction with 'teeth' of hardened iron. I tried it on a few of my round shells and it measures perfectly.
