Confederate Griswold Artillery Officer's Saber produced by the firm of Thomas Griswold, New Orleans. The firm name on this example is completely obliterated but most of the 'New Orleans' stamping can still be seen at the ricasso. It is undoubtably a product of the Griswold firm based on the form of the blade and other characteristics common to swords of this maker.

32-inch blade with stains and mild pitting throughout. A couple of nicks appear toward the tip. Blade washer is missing causing a tiny amount of play. Brass hilt has a wonderful untouched patina. Pommel cap has the 'split' always seen with this maker. Carved wood grip is completely intact with only minor losses where it meets the cross guard. 100% of the original twisted wire is present.
