Captain Joseph Horn was appointed Captain of  company B of the 31st Pennsylvania Volunteers, a 30 day emergency regiment. The regiment was organized Harrisburg on June 30th, 1863, to serve during the "Existing Emergency" and was mustered out at Harrisburg August 8th, 1863. Captain Horn must have had some good friends in the other regiments listed. Perhaps diligent research would reveal the connection.

Mint blade shows substantial original factory polish. Hilt retains nearly all of its original gold plating. Silver grip is excellent. Wire wrap is complete. Scabbard mounts retain about 80% of their original gilding. Leather scabbard body is somewhat flaked but is sturdy and fits sword perfectly.
