Confederate Richmond Rifle Carbine. 58 caliber. 25 inch barrel. This is a completely authentic original Richmond carbine in excellent condition. 1863 dated lock with excellent  'C.S. RICHMOND, VA' marking. Barrel is marked 'VP' over eagle and is the correct die for this period of production.  Barrel metal has tiny flaws typical of Richmond carbines. Correct rear site and 'pinched' front site. Correct brass nose cap. Iron butt plate is marked 'US' being used from captured parts. Iron trigger guard has been modified by removal of sling swivel. Rear sling swivel is original. Ramrod is a model 1855 type swelled near the tip and is threaded. Stock is sound and has been lightly sanded. Some initials and date of 1865 can be seen on right side of butt stock. Original CS canvas sling is excellent with exception of break in the leather attachment strip.

Metal parts are smooth white metal with light pitting on lock and barrel in the breech area. Brass nose cap has a nice reddish tone. Wood is dark but not as much as my photos suggest.
