Classic Confederate Cavalry Officer's Saber by Thomas Griswold and company of New Orleans. Desireable full firm address marking on 35 inch blade. Correct original brass scabbard. Sword is just as found and was no doubt carried a great deal as evidenced in the wear to ring mounts

Blade is smooth with a pleasant dove metal grey patina. 100% original twisted copper wire and about 20% original leather wrap. Original carved wood grip is mostly visible and is free of major cracks or chipping. Brass hilt, pommel and scabbard have a pleasing dark mustard patina. Hilt retains original shape but is slightly loose from wear and the absence of blade washer. Scabbard is for the most part smooth with only a ripple or peck here and there.
